Action-adventure · Stealth · Historical
Real history, secret wars. Play through the Renaissance, the age of pirates, the American Revolution and feudal Japan.
An action-adventure series about two secret groups, the Assassins and the Templars, fighting over power through real moments in history.
Each game drops you into a different historical era through the "Animus", a machine that lets present-day characters relive their ancestors' memories.
Ezio Auditore (Renaissance Italy), the Kenway family (pirates and the American Revolution), Naoe and Yasuke (feudal Japan), and Desmond Miles in the present day.
You climb and explore famous cities as they looked hundreds of years ago and meet real historical figures.
Loosely. Most historical stories stand alone, but a present-day storyline links them. The Ezio trilogy and the Kenway games are tightly connected.
For the core story on Switch: the Ezio Collection (3 games), then the Kenway saga (Black Flag, Rogue, III). Shadows is a separate, newer adventure on Switch 2.
The Switch games only: Ezio's full arc first, then the Kenway family saga in story order, then Shadows.
Story order lists games by when their events happen inside the story. Beginner order is the order we recommend playing them, which is often closer to release order because later games are written assuming you played earlier ones. Playing in story order can spoil twists or start you on an older, harder game.
Young Ezio Auditore in Renaissance Florence and Venice sets out to uncover a conspiracy against his family.
Ezio rebuilds the Assassin order in Rome and recruits new members to fight the Borgia family.
An older Ezio travels to Constantinople to find the secrets left behind by Altaïr.
Edward Kenway, a privateer turned pirate, sails the Caribbean and gets pulled into the Assassin–Templar war.
Shay Cormac, an Assassin who turns against the Brotherhood, tells the story from the Templar side.
Connor, a young Mohawk warrior, fights for his people during the American Revolution.
Aveline, an Assassin in French-Spanish New Orleans, fights slavery and Templar plots.
Two heroes in feudal Japan: Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuke, a samurai, whose paths cross during a time of war.
Switch 2 only. Fine to play first if that is your console.
Two collections cover most of the series on Switch: The Ezio Collection (II, Brotherhood, Revelations) and The Rebel Collection (Black Flag, Rogue). Assassin's Creed III Remastered includes Liberation. Shadows is Switch 2 only. Odyssey exists only as a Japan-only cloud version — it needs a Japanese Nintendo Account and is not sold on the Malaysian eShop.
Switch 2 runs most Switch games, but not all. Check Nintendo's compatibility information for older titles. Availability on the Malaysian eShop is not yet verified for every game.
