The story, simply explained

What is it?

Mystery visual novels where you investigate crimes and defend clients in dramatic court battles.

What is the story about?

Defence lawyers uncover the truth behind murder cases by finding contradictions in witness testimony.

Who are the main characters?

Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Maya Fey, Apollo Justice, and Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Great Ace Attorney).

Why play it?

Clever cases, big twists and memorable characters.

Is the story connected?

Yes, within each trilogy. The Great Ace Attorney is a separate story set much earlier.

How many games should I play?

Start with the Phoenix Wright trilogy, or The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.

Choose your playing order

Release order, which keeps every reveal in place.

Story order or beginner order — what's the difference?

Story order lists games by when their events happen inside the story. Beginner order is the order we recommend playing them, which is often closer to release order because later games are written assuming you played earlier ones. Playing in story order can spoil twists or start you on an older, harder game.
